Vaughan Regional Medical Center recently announced Janet Atchison, RN, of the Same Day Surgery department as the recipient of the 2011 Mercy Award.
“We all know someone whose life is dedicated to giving to others, someone whose generous spirit makes us say, ‘That’s how I want to live my life.’ This year, Vaughan is proud to recognize Janet Atchison for conducting herself in such a way,” said Vaughan’s CEO Barry Keel.
The Mercy Award remembers Scott Mercy, LifePoint’s founding Chairman and CEO, and recognizes one extraordinary employee who best embraces the humanitarian spirit on which LifePoint Hospitals was founded.
“Janet’s kind, caring, compassionate spirit is an example to all of us here at Vaughan,” said Vaughan CEO Barry Keel. “Her daily commitment to her patients and to her co-workers is unwavering. She is one who truly has a healing hand and a helping heart,” said Keel. “She takes great pride in meeting others’ needs, always with a smile on her face. Patient after patient have commended Janet’s ability to put them at ease, calm their fears, and truly make them feel cared for. She offers heartfelt compassion,” Keel said.
This Mercy Award honor places Janet in the running for national recognition within LifePoint Hospitals’ 2011 company-wide Mercy Award. The company-wide winner will be honored at a ceremony in Nashville, Tenn., on June 2011.
