Valley Grande City Council talk 2020 vandalism case

The Valley Grande City Council continued taking steps toward closing the 2020 Vandalism Case at the City Park.
Councilwoman Sara Day said at the Valley Grande City Council meeting on Monday that she plans to talk with Dallas County District Attorney Robert Turner Sr. this week about restitution from December 18, 2020 and requesting damages.
Day did not reveal the amount of damages and she has been speaking to Jim Ransom.
Some Christmas decorations were damaged and other items were stolen at the Valley Grande City Park walking trail.
The entire city council was present at the meeting: Day, Mayor Wayne Labbe, Robby Rose, Bruce Hughes, Jane Harris, Kay Davidson and Treasurer/ Clerk Kim Harris.
The city council unanimously approved for Day to speak with the DA’s office about the case.
In other Council news:
-Day and Jane Harris will see if Fix It Nix, a lawn care company that won the bid to cut grass in the city, has been cutting grass. Labbe said they are not holding up the deal on getting grass at the Valley Grande Ball Fields and City Park.
-Labbe reported that he is receiving quotes for the two sheds and a small building damaged from a June storm.
-Labbe said the quotes for the two sheds were valued at $7,253 each and the small building at $3,294.50.
-Labbe added that he’s waiting on Bent Tree for a quote on the damaged lights.
The next Valley Grande City Council meeting will be held at 5 p.m. Monday, August 5 at Valley Grande City Hall.
