The Dallas County Commission has announced that the Dallas County Administrative building will host its Grand Opening on Sept. 27 at 11 a.m. The commission shared the news during its regular monthly meeting on Monday at the Dallas County Courthouse.

The entire County Commission was present for discussions that included resolution approvals and the upcoming March election. Present were Probate Judge Jimmy Nunn, Commissioners Jan Justice, Vivian Rogers, Connell Towns and Curtis Williams.

In other Commission news:

-The Election will be held on March 5.

-Resolution 2023-08-4 was approved, Voting Precinct change from St. John Baptist Church to Ebenezer Baptist Church.  St. John Baptist Church was damaged by the January 12 tornado.

-Resolution 2023-08-5 was approved, the Approval of Act 2023-529, Alternate Method of Publication.

-Resolution 2023-08-6, was approved, Petition to change County Road 458 to William Smith Place.

-Resolution 2023-08-1, USGS operation of a stage gauge on the Alabama River. Dallas County Attorney John Kelly said the process is done yearly.

-Resolution 2023-08-7 July Budget revisions were approved.

-The Dallas County Courthouse will be closed on Monday, September 4, for the Labor Day holiday.
