Rotary International District Governor Dr. Earl Ingram spoke to the Selma Rotary Club on Monday.

Ingram’s powerful speech ranged from what great contribution each Selma Rotary member can bring to the club and the overall theme internationally.

“What can each of you bring to the club, going from good to great,” Ingram said.

Ingram pointed out that Rotary International has 1.4 members that represent 200 different countries and 530 Districts. He noted that the state has two Districts, North and South.

A Rotary member since 1982, Ingram said the Rotary Club’s theme for this year is “Create Hope in the World.”

“The world is in a mess, not where we’d like it to be,” Ingram said. “Hope is a way of thinking and problem solving. Together, we see a world of people making lasting change. The Rotary Club is working toward peace and good will.”

Ingram is a former professor at Troy University, serving between 1987 and 2019. He also served six years in the U.S. Army.

His wife, Rebecca V. Ingram, Ph.D., recently retired professor in Troy’s College of Education, also attended the Rotary Club meeting.

Ingram presented a check to Selma Rotary Club President Collins Pettaway III after his speech.
