Selma High falls to Beauregard at AHSAA Kickoff Classic

Beauregard spoiled the coaching debut of Leon Day at Selma High School.

The Hornets scored 15 second quarter points enroute to a 29-6 win over Selma at the AHSAA Kickoff Classic on Thursday night at the Cramton Bowl in Montgomery.

It was the Hornets’ second straight victory over the Saints, prevailing 21-16 last year.

Beauregard took an 8-0 lead midway in the first quarter.

Selma got within 8-6 after one quarter as Kamarion Woods threw a 58-yard touchdown pass to Jarvarius Marks, but the Saints missed the game-tying two-point conversion.

The Hornets scored 15 second-quarter points, both on touchdowns, extending their lead to 23-6 at halftime.

Beauregard put the game away in the fourth quarter with a touchdown, accounting for the final score.

Selma had a few bright spots in the contest.

Woods completed 8-of-20 passes for 102 yards with one TD and Omari Smith had three catches for 29 yards. Jarvarius Marks had two catches for 62 yards.

Defensively, Kendarious White recorded a game-high 11 tackles. Ameire Eaton totaled eight stops.
