The Selma City Council has agreed to purchase new vehicles for the Selma Police Department.
Selma Police Chief Kenta Fulford addressed the council as part of the report from Mayor James Perkins, Jr.
Fulford’s request included a used K-9 vehicle for$12,000 and 10 other vehicles that total a combined $551,000.
Fulford said the new vehicles are needed because eight officers were sharing vehicles. The council voted to approve the vehicle purchases.
City Council President Billy Young, along with council members Christie Thomas, Troy Harvill, Lesia James, Clay Carmichael, Atkin Jemison, Sam Randolph, Jannie Thomas and Michael Johnson approved the decision.
