Southside entertains Prattville Christian Academy in a crucial Region 3, Class 3A contest on Friday night at 7 p.m.

Southside coach Charles Moody Jr. said he enjoyed the 22-0 victory over Keith, but quickly shifted his focus to PCA.

“The  PCA game has major playoff implications,” Moody said.” We have to win this game to make the playoffs. They have a great team over there and they are playing great ball! We need our supporters to come out and cheer our guys to victory.”

The Panthers’ passing attack with quarterback MJ Reese and twin receivers Derick and Erick Smith has caused matchup problems for the opposition.

A.L. Johnson at Keith: The Bears (3-2) put the Southside loss in the rearview mirror, focusing on a Region 3, Class 1A opponent at J. V. Caldwell Stadium in Orrville.

Keith’s head coach Anthony Lumpkin said A.L. Johnson is a mystery opponent.

“They are under a new coach, so I really don’t know what offense and defense they run,” Lumpkin said.

Selma at Marbury: The Saints (0-6) make another attempt to win their first game of the season in a Region 3, Class 5A contest.

The Saints must find a way to score points, having only scored two touchdowns this season. Selma has gotten shutout in its last three games.

Morgan Academy at Autauga Academy: The Senators (1-5, 1-3) need a win to keep their slim AISA playoff hopes alive.

Against Bessemer Academy, Patrick Johnson started at quarterback last week. Davis Fuller had eight total tackles and a quarterback sack, rushing for 52 yards. Milton Hand had eight total tackles and an 18-yard touchdown run.

“This Region is really tough,” Morgan Academy coach Danny Raines said. Autauga is another very talented football team. They have talented skill players. It will be a big challenge for us.”

Meadowview Christian School at Tuscaloosa Christian: The Trojans (0-6) travel to Cottondale against the last team they beat in 2017.

Despite not having a win this season, MCS coach John Treherne said he still loves the effort of the players.
