A Region 5, Class 3A Region playoff seed is at stake when Southside visits Alabama Christian on Friday.
The Southside-Alabama Christian winner will be the third seed, with the losing team takes the fourth spot. “The game is huge,” Panthers coach Charles Moody Jr. said. “This win will give us better seeding.”
Keith at R.C. Hatch: The Bears (5-3, 3-2 Region 5, 1A) are already assured of a 1A playoff berth and the third seed. Keith is coming off an open date.
Keith head coach Anthony Lumpkin is not overlooking the Bobcats.
“RC Hatch is big and physical, they really get up to play us,” Lumpkin said.
Pickens Academy at Morgan Academy: The Senators (1-8) attempt to snap a seven-game losing streak in their season finale at Morgan Field. Caden Tellier threw a 53-yard TD pass to Milton Hand against Glenwood Academy.
“We’re looking forward to playing another game,” Senators coach Danny Raines said. “These kids have done a great job preparing the last few weeks, even though we had extremely tough games. That’s not always easy to do.”
Selma at Charles Henderson: The Saints (2-7) close the regular season on the road before gearing up for the 5A state playoffs in two weeks.
Running back Jason Rogers ran for 150 yards and scored two touchdowns last week.
West Blocton at Dallas County: The Hornets (0-8, 0-6 Region 5, Class 4A) celebrate Homecoming at Martin Field in Plantersville, searching for their first win of the season. Alkreem Wilson and Desean Peat scored last week for the Hornets.
