The Selma City Council has agreed to repair the Larry D. Striplin Jr. Performing Arts Center.
At its City Council meeting on Tuesday, City Council President Billy Young, councilmembers Michael Johnson, Christie Thomas, Troy Harvill, Clay Carmichael, Lesia James, Atkin Jemison, and Jannie Thomas all approved.
Monumental Construction Services won the bid to repair roof damage, which will cost over $120,000.
Neither Selma Mayor James Perkins Jr. nor the city council set a timetable for when the repairs will be done.
The theater has been closed since July by the city because of the roof damages. Gospel Tabernacle Pastor John Grayson, who has leased the theater since 2015, was present at the city council meeting, The City of Selma owns the theatre.
