The Dallas County Football Championship will remain at Southside High School.

MJ Reese accounted for four touchdowns and had 566 yards of total offense as Southside prevailed 50-18 on Thursday night at Panther Stadium.

Southside (7-3) improved to 12-2 against Selma, Keith, and Dallas County under head coach Charles Moody Jr.

“It’s always important to do well against the county,” Moody said. “We should be 13-1, but I’m not going to get into that.”

Reese gave the Panthers a 6-0 lead with a 98-yard interception return for a touchdown in the first quarter.

The Hornets (0-10) hung close in the first half, behind quarterback Kodell Sharp’s TD run and TD pass, getting within 14-12.

Southside closed the half with 16 straight points for a 28-12 halftime lead. Amadrion Smith scored two of his three touchdowns in the second quarter Reese connected with Erick Smith on a touchdown.

The Panthers outscored Dallas County 22-6 in the second half behind a running clock during the fourth quarter.

Reese threw a TD strike to Smith and ran for another score.  Smith closed the Panthers’ scoring with a touchdown run.

Sharpe threw a TD pass in the fourth quarter to make it 50-18 before Southside relied on reserves to run out the clock.

Reese finished with 272 yards passing, 133 punt and kickoff return yards 98 yards defensively, and 63 yards rushing.  Smith finished with over 120 yards rushing.

Southside travels in first-round playoff action next Friday. The Hornets’ season is completed.
