Yellowhammer Networks Chief Executive Officer George Henry spoke at the Valley Grande City Council meeting on Nov. 6.
Henry addressed the city council on the company’s interest in Valley Grande being part of the initiative to build a fiber optics network across Dallas County. Henry, who has already spoken to officials in Selma and Orrville, said that effort would not cost the city anything. City leaders would only need to sign a right of way agreement.
According to Henry, everything starts with Selma and leaders are still trying to decide. Selma University will be a key spot and Henry will appear at the Dallas County Commission meeting on Nov. 13.
If all goes well, Henry said he will have an office on the second floor of the Dallas County Courthouse.
Valley Grande Mayor Wayne Labbe told Henry the city council could have an answer at the next council meeting on Nov. 20.
Council members present at the meeting were: Mayor Wayne Labbe council members Kay Davidson, Sara Day, Bruce Hughes and Jane Harris.
