Southside Quarterback named Selma Times-Journal player of the week

Southside quarterback MJ Reese is The Selma Times-Journal’s high school player of the week.
The senior threw for a touchdown and ran for another score as the Panthers were eliminated by Straughn 45-21 in round one of the Class 3A state playoffs.
Southside coach Charles Moody Jr. praised Reese for always displaying leadership to the younger Panther players. The Panthers finished 7-4 and fourth in Region 3, Class 3A standings.
Reese earned Selma Times-Journal player of the week honors for a second time this season, becoming the third player to do so. Keith running back Saderreion Reuben and Southside wide receiver Derick Smith as the only athletes to win the award more than once.
Eight other players have earned Player of the Week honors from the Selma Times-Journal: Reese, Southside wide receiver Erick Smith, Southside wide receiver Derick Smith, Southside cornerback Raquez Broadnax, Meadowview Christian School athlete Sean Pope, and Keith quarterback Aveon Young.
