The Word Ministry leader Bishop B.A. Scott has found a creative way to help the youth in Selma and Dallas County.

Earlier this year, Scott established a program Encouraging, Mentoring, Preparing, Ascending Cultural Traits, better known as E.M.P.A.C.T. The group only has five members, but Scott is trying to increase that number. We believe his efforts will be fruitful.

We applaud Scott for working tirelessly for trying to improve the lives of young adults in the area. Anytime someone does what Scott is doing to help the youth secure a bright future, we’ll gladly write about it. We need kids to prepare and lead Selma and Dallas County down the road when we retire someday.

E.M.P.A.C.T. takes children on hunting and fishing trips, teaching them life skills and mentoring them through those ventures.

Scott has a strong support base for E.M.P.A.C.T. to succeed. His wife, Pastor Evelyn Scott, is a wonderful minister and has her own story to tell someday.  Scott’s brother-in-law, Fred Scott, is a former Selma Times-Journal employee who has a great reputation working with the young generation over the years.

We applaud the businesses that have donated to E.M.P.A.C.T. and we are highly optimistic many more will contribute. Bishop BA Scott deserves a pat on the back for starting this program. Selma and Dallas County needs it.
