LIFT Ministries made its annual Thanksgiving donation to Dallas County Jail inmates last weekend.
LaTanglia Williams, LIFT Ministries founder and CEO, presented a $600 check to Dallas County Sheriff Mike Granthum and Dallas County Warden Steve Coleman to purchase meals for the inmates in Uniontown.
Williams said that the money will cover meals for inmates both Thursday and Friday. Honey-baked ham, leg quarters, sliced turkey breast, dressing, macaroni and cheese, greens, cake and pie as well as tea and lemonade are on the menu.
“We wanted to give thanks,” Williams said. “It means a lot because we are giving thanks and giving back to the community. There was enough money raised for all of the male and female inmates to have Thanksgiving dinner served to them for two days in a row.”
According to Williams, the donations came from Dr. Bruce O. Dozier Sr., Dallas County Commissioner Curtis and Jerolene Williams, Dallas County Commissioner Vivian Rogers, LaVern England, Quentin Hartley and Anthony Holmes.
Granthum said he always appreciates Williams for helping others.
“The Thanksgiving donation is one of many things LIFT Ministries and LaTangelia Williams do,” Granthum said. “They donate in Dallas County all year.”
Dallas County Commissioners Curtis Williams and Vivian Rogers also attended the check presentation. Commissioner Williams is Williams’ father.
England, a member of LIFT Ministries, said donating is all about the holiday spirit.
“It’s better to give than receive,” England said.
Commissioner Curtis Williams said he’s proud of his daughter’s generosity.
