The City of Minter will have its first Christmas Parade in a few years on Dec. 9.
The parade will start at 10 a.m. Saturday morning in downtown Minter. The lineup begins at 9 a.m., one hour before the parade starts.
Margaret Fails, founder and president of the Minter parade, said the goal is to have everyone registered for the parade by Thursday.
Fails also said this is the parade’s 23rd year, but the first since 2019.
“We didn’t have the parade for a while because of the COVID-19 pandemic,” Fails said.
At the last Mnter parade in 2019, over 12 floats took the short route down Dallas County Road 4. Barbecue ribs, hamburgers, hot dogs and candy were sold at various tents.
The event was well-attended by high-profile officials, including Dallas County Sheriff Mike Granthum, Dallas County Circuit Court Judge Collins A. Pettaway, and Dallas County Probate Judge Jimmy Nunn.
Fails said Minter residents have circled Dec. 9 on their calendar for months, pointing to the Christmas parade.
“People in Minter don’t have anything to do, they look forward to this parade,” Fails said.
According to Fails, toys will be given away to the kids. The elderly will also receive something.
