The City of Valley Grande announced the schedule on registration for its youth baseball and softball leagues.
According to Valley Grande Parks and Recreation Director Bubba Holley, people can sign up on two different dates at the Valley Grande Baptist Church’s Fellowship Hall: Jan.18 and 19 from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. and Jan. 20 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.. Jan.18 and 19 are Thursday and Friday, with Jan. 20 falls on a Saturday.
The registration is $50 per player. Parents must bring their children’s birth certificate. The age groups start at 3 – 4 year olds with T-ball, and go to 15 for baseball and softball. Holley said they are trying to start a new age group for softball between ages 16 – 19.
“The $50 fee will pay for their entire uniform which includes hat or visor pants, jersey socks and a belt,” Holley said.
Holley explained the reason for starting a month ahead of schedule.
“ We are starting early this year to get more practices in to give us a better chance at teaching this kids the fundamentals of the game,” Holley said. “Plus we just love kids. It’s like having an extended family you only get to see a few months out of the year so we try to spend as much time together as possible.”
