Dallas County High School (DCHS) seniors Li’Donna Woods and Tiara Brown attended the Invitational Only Softball Elite Tournaments in Panama City, Florida on Dec. 20.
The six-day event included a meet and greet, team placement, practices, pool play and bracket play softball. Six games were played during the period.
Woods and Brown shined during the tournament both at the plate and in the field. Woods had six hits in the games and Brown added four hits. Woods pitched two games, striking out two and walking four. Woods also was a left fielder and right fielder. Brown was shortstop, catcher, right fielder and left fielder.
The school’s softball coach Ralph Brooks said he was not surprised that Woods and Brown shined in Panama City.
“La’Donna Woods and Tiara Brown are outstanding players on and off the field,” Brooks said. “These two seniors excel in the classroom and it has been my privilege to coach them. Respect is something of the past but these girls excel in it. They work extremely hard on the field and a great example for their teammates. I know that their future holds great opportunities in the college of their choice , any college team would be very fortunate to have them on board.”
