Dallas County residents earn honors at Mississippi State

A pair of Dallas County residents made the President’s List at Mississippi State University (MSU).
Mary Carolyn Jones and Rachel Johnson, former graduates at Morgan Academy, were among 4,500 students named to the fall 2023 President’s List at MSU. Jones graduated from Morgan Academy in 2021. Johnson is a 2020 graduate of Morgan Academy.
Students on the MSU President’s List achieved a 3.80 or better grade point average (GPA) completing at least 12 semester hours of coursework with no incomplete grades or grades lower than a C.
Morgan Academy DIrector of Operation Karim Plummer Oaks said she iss always proud to see her former students excel on the college level.
“Mary Carolyn and Rachel Johnson were at the top of their classes,” Oaks said. “Both girls were excellent, inquisitive and creative students.”
Some MSU students may not appear on the list as a result of requests for privacy from publication through the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act.
Mississippi State is considered one of the top colleges in the SEC and nation. MSU is a national STEM-focused, doctoral degree-granting, land-grant university offering a wide range of educational experiences for learning.
