Despite rumors floating around Selma, Leika’s School will not be closing.
Leika’s and Church Street United Methodist Church officials released a joint statement recently dispelling the rumors. Leika’s began registration for the 2024-2025 school year on Feb. 20.
In a letter to the church congregation, Pastor Dianne Everett said Leika’s School has not lost its purpose of educating youths.
“The heart of Leika’s school has always been to serve the families of Selma by nurturing their children’s mind, body, and spirit. Nothing has changed,” Everett said. “Our intent has always been to hide God’s word in the hearts of your children. We will continue serving Selma through this ministry with the same core curriculum and traditional values that we have always had. We believe that it is our calling to serve God by loving and nurturing your children, and in turn, your families”
Church Council Chairman Andy Wendleland said the church is “ committed to providing faith–based childcare for each of you and your children.”
