Two pedestrians were injured when they were struck by a pickup truck at the intersection of Broad Street and Water Avenue Tuesday morning.
According to Sgt. Gerral Pinkston of the Selma Police Department, the two women had just come from the Reflections Coffee Shoppe when they were attempting to cross Broad Street at the foot of the Edmund Pettus Bridge around 10:30 a.m. Tuesday.
“The pickup truck was turning left from Water Avenue and struck the pedestrians,” Pinkston said.
The women’s drinks splattered across the hood of the pickup truck, and the women sat on the pavement in the rain as emergency workers tended to their injuries. It appeared that the truck’s hood was also dented.
The two victims were placed in neck braces by EMTs. One of the first responders also brought an umbrella to the women and sat with them on the pavement as they were awaiting an ambulance.
Emergency responders helped the women onto the ambulance where they were taken to the hospital for evaluation.
The Selma Police Department is investigating the crash. No other information was immediately available
