Keith High School guard Tommy Tisdale III will be playing college basketball next season in the state of Georgia.
On Wednesday, Tisdale signed a national letter of intent with Brewton Parker College, an NAIA school in Mount Vernon, Georgia. Known as “Trey,” Tisdale was surrounded by his parents, Tommy Tisdale Jr. and Latonia Tisdale, and sister, Taylor Tisdale.
Tommy Tisdale Jr., also the Principal at Keith Middle-High School, called it a proud parent moment.
Tisdale said Brewton Parker has similarities to Keith, as both areas showcase a wonderful small-town vibe.
“The environment at Brewton Parker feels like Keith,” Tisdale said. “It’s the small-town community that I like.”
Brewton Parker assistant coach David Stallion said the coaches were impressed with the all-around skills of Tisdale, who averaged 27 points, eight rebounds and seven assists a game as a senior.
“One thing that stood out was his poise and confidence as a player,” Stallion said. “Trey’s confidence allows him to take a shot. Trey has a college-ready body, but we will develop that body at Brewton Parker. We believe he will make an immediate impact.”
Keith head coach Marcus Turner said he’s proud of everything Tisdale accomplished during a five-year career for the Bears. He made the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star basketball game and made the Alabama Sports Writers Association All-state team four times.
“It couldn’t have happened to a better kid,” Turner said. “The work he puts in daily, I’m extremely happy for him.”
Tisdale is also an honor student at Keith, posting a 3.8 grade point average and 20 ACT score. He plans to major in computer science at Brewton Parker.
