Valley Grande Community Center Tops Council meeting

Talks are underway for the City of Valley Grande to purchase the Valley Grande Community Center.
At Monday’s city council meeting, Patsy Moore and Judy Harris of the Community Center plan to give the facility to the city. City council said they plan to sell the building after acquiring it. A Dallas County resident is interested in buying the community center.
In other council news:
- Elkdale Baptist Church youth minister Jonathan Brown provided details to Kay Davidson about the Selma Area Tennis Association membership by the UTSA on applying for a grant. Brown will appear at the next city council meeting to explain the process.
- The council approved Resolution 2024-169 from the previous meeting to purchase playground equipment from Playground Boss for $49,840 with a promotional offer for a park bench for $1, a warranty, two weeks delivery and installment.
Councilwoman Kay Davidson was council PRO TEM in the absence of Mayor Wayne Labbe. Sara Moore, Bruce Hughes, Jane Harris, Robby Rose and Treasurer Kim Harris were also present.
The next Valley Grande City Council meeting will be held May 20 at 5 p.m. at Valley Grande City Hall.
