Tommy Tisdale III capped a stellar career at Keith High School as class valedictorian.
Tisdale, class salutatorian Jada Morgan and 32 other Keith seniors received their diplomas on Wednesday in the school gymnasium. Keith was the final Dallas County school to complete graduation season.
Tisdale, The Selma Times-Journal’s two-time boys basketball player of the year, said he worked tirelessly to become the top student in the Class of 2024. Tisdale, known as “Trey” to family and friends, will play college basketball at Brewton Parker College next year and major in computer science.
“It feels good being valedictorian,” Tisdale said. “The honor is well-deserved and I worked so hard for it. Attending Keith Middle-High School means a lot to me.”
Tisdale also made the Alabama Sportswriters Association All-State basketball team four straight years and played in the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star game. As a senior, he averaged 27 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists a game.
Morgan said she was honored to finish as the second student in her class. Morgan will attend Wallace Community College-Selma and major in Nursing.
“It felt good to finish as salutatorian,” Morgan said. “It’s a big deal because Keith had a lot of smart students at the top. What I will always remember about Keith is that they always welcomed me with open arms.”
