Selma High Principal, Athletic Director tops changes at Selma City Schools

Selma City Schools announced its educational lineup with seven changes for the 2024-25 school year at various schools.
Dr. Kesia Smith is the new Principal at Selma High School. Girls basketball coach Wil Morgan is the Assistant principal at Selma High School. Kelvin Lett is the new Athletic Director at SCS. Dr. Miranda Bissoo is the Career Technical Education Department Director at SCS. Kristen Williams is the SCS Director of Federal Programs. Former Selma Police Assistant Chief Natasha Fowlkes is the SCS School Resource Officer.
On the Elementary school level, JaQuincy Ponder is the principal at Sopha P. Kingston,
Smith is a longtime veteran educator in Selma, working at the School of Discovery Genesis Center and R.B. Hudson Steam Academy.
“I am grateful for the overwhelming support and good wishes upon my appointment,” said Smith, a 1994 graduate of Selma High School. “I look forward to a productive school year with your continued support and prayers. My heart is filled with joy.”
Lett, a former Selma Times-Journal boys basketball coach of the year at Southside, said he’s looking forward to the challenge.
“I want to ensure that Selma City School scholars continue to get a rich academic and athletic experience,” Lett said. “My goal as the athletic director is to bring the community, students, and school system together as one.”
Morgan, who earned Selma Times-Journal girls basketball coach of the year three times, said he’s ready for the challenge.
