Auburn offensive guard and Selma native Jeremiah Wright was mentioned at the SEC Football Media Days in Dallas on July 18.
Auburn head coach Hugh Freeze was breaking the Tigers’ depth chart at every position and spoke about their offensive line. Entering fall practice on August 1, Freeze said that Wright gets the early nod to start at right guard.
“I think we should be good on the offensive line,” Freeze said.
The two leading college football magazines, Athlon’s and Lindy’s, both project Wright as a starter at offensive guard.
Wright, a 2020 graduate of Selma High School, spoke about playing time after volunteering at the Lachavious Simmons football camp last month at Memorial Stadium.
“My goals are just being the best in my position, being the best in the country and seeing where that goes, you know, getting my name out there,” Wright said.“Right now, it’s summer workout, so we’re training hard. We’re working out. We’re in the weight room,” Wright said. “We’re running, just trying to get our body right, getting conditioned and get in shape for the season and then fall camp next month.”
