• The Selma/Dallas county Alzheimer’s Support Group will meet at the public library at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 20. All caregivers and other interested persons are encouraged to attend.
• The Selma-Dallas County Historic Preservation Society will have a salad luncheon on August 21 at 11 a.m. at Cornerstone Presbyterian Church located at 301 Broad Street.
• Alabama Cooperative Extension’s All About Eggs Workshop will be on August 22 4 p.m. at the Central Alabama Farmer’s Co-op, 2159 US Highway 80 E. Selma. Pre-registration required. Call 334-875-3200 on or before August 20 to pre-register or for more information.
• The Dallas County Board of Education will hold a regular school board meeting on Thursday, August 22, at 5:30 p.m. in the Commissioners’ Chambers of the Dallas County Courthouse.
• The Coffee Shoppe will host the Community Chat and Chew on Thursday, August 22, from noon to 1 p.m. This monthly meeting is held every fourth Thursday.
• Walton Theater Selma will have The Forge on Thursday, August 22, at 6 p.m., Friday, August 23, at 5:30 and 7:50 p.m., Saturday, August 24, at noon, 4 and 6:30 p.m.and Sunday, August 25, at 3 p.m.

• The Levitt Amp Selma Music Series continues on Saturday, August 24, with Necie and Sounds at Riverfront Amphitheater, 2 Green Street. Gates open at 7 p.m. and showtime is at 8 p.m. Free entry. Vendors and food trucks available. Bring Lawn Chairs, Tents and Coolers (Clear bags only).
• International Paper Riverdale Mill is now accepting applications for International Paper Foundation grants for area schools and non-profit organizations. The deadline to complete an on-line application at www.ipgiving.com is Thursday, August 29, at 5 p.m.
• Selma Team Outreach Ministry & Prayer will have a monthly prayer meeting on Saturday, September 7, at 10 AM at your church or join us at Crosspoint, 1710 West Dallas Avenue, Selma.
• A Get Out The Vote Kickoff Rally in Ward 6, celebrating the passage of the 1965 Voting Rights Act, and Voter Education Forums will be on Saturday, September 7, at Ebenezer Baptist Church, 1548 FD Reese Street Selma, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. For more information call 205-612-8671
• Old Cahawba’s History and Nature Walk will be on Saturday, September 7, at 10 a.m. Tickets are $8 and can be purchased by calling the visitor center at 334-872-8058 or onsite in the gift shop. We accept all major credit cards.
• Gallery 905 will have a Birthday Plate Workshop with Susan Youngblood on Thursday, September 12, at 5:30 p.m. Cost is $35. Materials provided. Class will be between 5-10. To sign up, email gallery905@yahoo.com

• St. Paul’s Episcopal Church will have its annual Lobster Fest on Thursday, September 19, at the church located at 210 Lauderdale Street.

• Al-Anon, a support group for families and friends of alcoholics, meets every Monday at noon in Common Ground at Gamble House, across from St. Paul’s Episcopal.
• The Selma Outreach Team Fellowship Prayer Ministry will have a prayer meeting on the first Saturday of each month at 10 a.m. For more information, call (334) 412-6673.
• Edmundite Missions holds Bible study every Monday from 10 – 11 a.m. in the classroom of the Bullock Community and Recreation Center. Call (334) 553-2736 for more information.
• Free Zumba and meditation classes are held weekly at the Bullock Center on 1428 Broad Street. Zumba is Monday and Thursday and meditation is Tuesday and Wednesday. Both are held at 5:30 p.m.
• The Selma and Dallas County Public Library offers Book Bunch every Thursday from 10-11 a.m. in the Kathryn Windham Conference Room. All are welcome.

• Edmundite Missions is seeking volunteers to assist in operating the new Dr. Michael and Catherine Bullock Community and Recreation Center. Tutors, coaches, greeters, room monitors, active adult teachers, team organizers and administrative support volunteers are needed. • The Dallas County School System is actively seeking to identify and enroll all students who are living in a homeless situation that reside within Dallas County School’s jurisdiction through the McKinney-Vento Assistance Act. • The American Red Cross is looking for volunteers. Critical needs currently are for disaster action team volunteers and blood drive volunteers. There are over 100 volunteer needs including disaster action team member, shelter worker, health services volunteer, disaster action team auxiliary member, fleet and facilities operation positions, and blood donor ambassadors. • Alabama State Bar volunteer lawyers program will have its Selma monthly civil legal advice clinic on the first Wednesday of each month from 1-3 p.m. at the Dr. Michael and Catherine Bullock Community and Recreational Center, 1428 Broad Street. Local lawyers will provide free legal advice to those who cannot afford legal assistance on topics including divorce, visitation, debt, tenant issues, probate matters and Bankruptcy.
