The honeymoon for Alabama’s two new Democratic congressmen didn’t last long.
Two leaders of the Alabama Democratic Party and the Alabama Education Association — Joe Reed and Paul Hubbert — are unhappy about Parker Griffith and Bobby Bright voting with Republicans on the economic stimulus package.
Reed says he’s also troubled that they both voted against the Lily Ledbetter Fair Pay Act.
Reed wrote letters to both congressman, which he made public. Hubbert published a column in AEA’s newsletter.
State Democratic Party Chairman Joe Turnham says there is concern among some Democrats about the votes, but party members should remember that both congressman represent districts that are closely divided politically.
