The Selma Saints were looking to celebrate its homecoming on Friday night, but the Shelby County Wildcats had a different idea.

The Wildcats took a commanding lead and cruised to a 43-6 win over the home-standing Saints on Friday night at Memorial Stadium.

Shelby County took the ball down the field and scored a touchdown on a two-yard rushing touchdown.

The Saints returned the ensuing kickoff for a touchdown.

However, that would be all of the scoring the Saints could muster. The Wildcats led 14-6 after the first quarter and 22-6 at halftime.

After the break, when Selma crowned its homecoming queen, The Wildcats added a touchdown in the third quarter and then had a pick-6 and a long rushing touchdown to close out the game.

The Saints drop to 4-4 on the season and 2-3 in the region. Selma will travel to Sipsey Valley next week. The winner of that game will clinch the No. 4 seed in the playoffs.
