The 14th Annual Evans Special Benefit Fund Golf Classic donated $15,000 to support the special needs students of Dallas County.
The donations were given during the golf tournament on Wednesday, Oct. 16, at the Valley Grande Golf Course. The event attracted numerous sponsors and more than 40 players playing on three-person teams.
This event was never just about golf. It was an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the community. Jeannie Evans is dedicated to honoring the legacy of her husband, George Patrick Evans, by continuing the benefit event.
“George was the the special education coordinator for Dallas County Schools, and he absolutely fell in love with the students,” Jeannie said. “Once he became mayor, he decided to start up this tournament with the goal of raising funds to help the special needs students of our area.”
Jeannie said community organizations that sponsored the event received recognition during the opening ceremony.
“The success of the event is due to the sponsors and teams who participate in the event,” Jeannie said.
