Two Dallas County administrators have received honors from the Council for Leaders in Alabama Schools (CLAS).
Southside High School Principal Cedric Brown has been named the latest recipient High School Principal of the Year for District 3 by CLAS, sponsored by the Alabama Association of Secondary School Principals (AASSP) and the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP).
Marcus Turner, Assistant Principal at Keith High School, was named the CLAS District 3 High School Assistant Principal of the Year.
The awards were given earlier this month because of their transformative leadership and his unwavering dedication to educational excellence.
Anthony Sampson, Superintendent of Dallas County Schools, said under Brown’s guidance as principal, Southside High School has achieved impressive milestones and continuous success, setting a standard for academic and community engagement that inspires educators and students alike.
“His vision and commitment have not only elevated his school but also serve as a model of effective leadership throughout the Dallas County School System,” Sampson said.
According to the Claleaders.org website, Brown is the first high school principal in Dallas County to receive the award alongside many others over the years within multiple counties throughout the State of Alabama.
“Congratulations again, Mr. Brown,” Sampson said. “This recognition is well-earned and we look forward to the continued positive impact of your work at Southside High School and beyond.”
Brown will be recognized at the state and national level for the distinguished award.
Sampson said Turner’s remarkable achievement speaks volumes about his dedication, vision and positive impact he brings to his school community every day.
“Thank you, Mr. Turner, for reflecting great credit on yourself, your family, and the Dallas County School System,” Sampson said. “Your leadership and commitment to excellence are shaping a brighter future for our students, and we are immensely proud of you. Here’s to continued success and inspiration in all that you do for Keith Middle High School and beyond.”
