Selma girls win Dallas County tournament

The Selma High School girls basketball team defeated Keith 52-19 in the championship of the Dallas County Tournament on Saturday at Southside High School.
Head coach James Bolden said he was proud of the team’s effort.
“It was a great opportunity to win another one,” Bolden said. “It’s still a work in progress. We’ve still got a few kinks to work out, but they looked really good tonight.”
The Lady Saints improve to 8-1 on the season. They will return to action in Montgomery Academy tournament after Christmas.
Rod’Neshia Parker led the way for the Lady Saints with 19 points. Safiya White added 14 points while Jy’Kierra Oliver has 11 points. Nicole Holloway had six points followed by McKenzie Carter with 3 points.
JaKayla Moore, Adasia Atkins and Jakiyah Reese all had four points for Keith each followed by Joceyln Atkins and Zy’Kerrianna Milhouse with three points each and Tamiya Richardson with one point.
Selma dominated from the opening tip taking a 22-2 lead after the first quarter. The advantage ballooned to 33-6 at halftime. Selma then won the third quarter 17-9, and the teams played with a running clock in the fourth quarter.
