The Dallas County Homeland Security and Emergency Management Agency will conduct their monthly scheduled test, testing the emergency outdoor warning sirens, starting Tuesday, Jan. 7, at 10 a.m.

The agency said in a statement testing of the sirens is necessary to ensure that all systems are functioning properly and said that the sirens are designed to be audible to people that are outdoors.

Also, the agency said a NOAA weather radio should also be used inside the home to alert those in severe weather of what’s happening at all times.

However, the public should not take any action during the day of the testing. Since all sirens have been repaired properly, they should sound during the test.

The sirens will continue to be tested the first Tuesday of every month between 10 a.m. and 10:15 a.m., unless severe weather threatens the area, so don’t be alarmed.

But, If the threat of severe weather is present on the test date, then the test will occur the following Wednesday.

If you do not hear your respected siren during the test time, contact the Dallas County Homeland Security and Emergency Management Agency at 334-874-2515.
