Time is running out for those interested in participating in Saturday’s MJ93 Fund summer youth football camp. To avoid crowds the morning of the program, participants are encouraged to preregister as soon as possible.
The second annual camp will be held at Memorial Stadium, where boys and girls between the ages of 8 to 17 will get a chance to learn about the National Football League, NCAA eligibility and requirements and available scholarship opportunities.
More than 200 children participated in last year’s camp and Davenport said the camp is a great opportunity for children to broaden their perspectives.
Football camp for boys 8-12 will begin at 8 a.m. and camp for ages 13-17 will begin at 1 p.m.
The girls’ camp for ages 12-17 only, will begin at noon inside Memorial Stadium. Registration, which is $45 can be done online at michaeljohnsoncamp.eventbrite.com/.
Johnson will hold a fundraiser on Friday at Brownstone Manor beginning at 7 p.m. to help raise money for scholarships and future camps for local children. U.S. Rep Terri Sewell (D-Selma) and Johnson will be the keynote speakers at the event. Tickets are $35.
