Erasing Jeff Davis’ name from street like erasing history

Quite frankly, I don’t think that honoring a person’s heritage should be shot down by the same group that screams honor this one and that one by re-naming streets that are already named for a person.
Re-name a street that does not already have a person’s name, such as Union Street. or one of the numbered avenues in town. This makes a lot more sense than causing all the confusion and hard feelings that have been associated with this issue.
Confederate soldiers and presidents and senators, etc., are honorable people, as well. Selma would not still be standing if it were not for the valiant men who fought the battle of Selma. Even though the battle was lost, the town was not destroyed, thanks to them. Please don’t destroy one part of history in order to glorify another. Be advised, if you wipe out slavery and civil war and antebellum homes and southern belles, then no one will know why all the hoopla over the struggle you say you went though to get where you are now.
God bless Selma and it’s citizens.
