Selma Police are still investigating a Wednesday night shooting that left a victim with non-life threatening injuries.
Selma Chief of Police William T. Riley said the department is still gathering information and could be close to making an arrest in the case.
“Detectives are still investigating and pursuing suspects,” he said. “We are still conducting an investigation and working with the victim to gather all of the information that led up to the shooting.”
The shooting occurred at approximately 9:30 p.m. in the 700 block of King Street, Riley said. Interviews are being conducted to piece together the events or motives for the shooting before an arrest is made.
The victim, an 18-year-old black male, was struck in the left hip area following a suspected altercation.
He was taken to Vaughan Regional Medical Center where he was treated and released.
“We are trying to get a clear picture of what happened,” Riley said. “We have some information and now we just want to tie up some loose ends.”
The suspect the department is pursuing is also an 18-year-old black male, Riley said.
The investigation has established a handgun was used in the shooting, however, officials are still working to determine the caliber.
