Meadowview fell to Clarke Prep in a 56-36 shootout on Friday.
The Trojans (2-2) had little trouble moving the ball up and down the field. However, the Gators (2-2) had even less trouble.
“Our problem is we couldn’t stop them,” said coach Rick Jackson. “We’re giving up big plays defensively. We’ve got to get better as a unit defensively.”
Meadowview quarterback Randal Hamilton and wide receiver J.R. Lowe led a Meadowview offense that racked up more than 500 yards on the night.
Hamilton threw for 362 yards and four touchdowns on 22-of-33 passing. Lowe caught 14 passes for 231 yards and two touchdowns.
Despite their offensive prowess, Meadowview shot itself in the foot on three occasions. The Trojans turned the ball over on downs twice inside the Clarke 15-yard line. A touchdown pass was also called back on a penalty.
