Authorities say a man and woman have been found dead inside a home in Hueytown.

Police believe the man held his common-law wife, mother-in-law and a 3-year-old hostage.

They say both women were shot and the mother-in-law was killed. The wife was shot in the head and was being treated at a local hospital.

Officers were called to the residence on Carver Avenue at about 6:45 a.m. Thursday.

A SWAT team entered the house just after 10 a.m. where they found the bodies.

Police said information they released earlier about a stepdaughter being involved was incorrect.

Authorities said the 3-year-old was allowed to leave the house and was not harmed. The child was turned over to the Department of Human Resources.
