Painting a passion for local artist

It’s the only thing she can totally immerse herself in.
Without painting, Louella Clements would house the dozens of images she has seen or created in her mind, never letting them go.
Without painting, they would never be displayed for others to see.
“It’s in my heart and it has to come out,” Clements said. “The reason I paint is because I can’t not paint. I just love it.”
Clements is the Art Guild artist of the month. Her paintings will be displayed all month.
“Most of my work is a realistic style, but I like to try new things, new methods, new styles,” Clements said.
She has worked with acrylic and oil paint, but is now experimenting with watercolors.
She started painting 25 years ago, but is always eager to learn new styles.
“I’ve always been very realistic, but right now I am trying to branch out,” Clements said.
All her paintings are available for purchase. Items range from $50 to $400. If paintings are displayed with a frame, the price of the frame and painting is included in the final price.
Purchased painting will have a red dot on the title card and be displayed for the remainder of the month.
The Art Guild gallery will be open every Friday and Saturday this month from noon until 4 p.m.
The opening weekend reception will be today from 2 p.m. until 4p.m. The gallery is located at 508 Selma Ave.
Admission is free.
