The City of Selma Public Works Department will have alternative garbage and trash pick-up schedules because of the holiday weekend. There will be no garbage or trash pick-up on Monday, July 4.

The alternative plans are as follows:

Garbage Schedule

4 Monday garbage will be picked up Tuesday, July 5

4 Tuesday garbage will be picked up Wednesday, July 6

4 Wednesday garbage will be picked up Thursday, July 7

4 Thursday garbage will be picked up Friday, July 8

Trash Schedule

4 Monday trash will be picked up Tuesday, July 5

4 Tuesday trash will be picked up Wednesday, July 6

4 Wednesday trash will be picked up Thursday, July 7

4 Thursday and Friday trash will be picked up Friday.

“Everybody’s used to it on holidays,” Selma Public Works director Tommy Smith said. Smith said Friday is set aside as a make-up day anyway, so there are no problems implementing the alternative schedule.

Smith also said dumpsters will be set up on the weekend, as usual, for people who need to do a trash dump over the weekend. Those will be emptied Tuesday. To find out locations of the dumpsters, call the Selma Public Works office at 874-2165.

Marion and Uniontown will also adjust their garbage pick-up schedules; in each city, Monday pick-up will be Tuesday and Tuesday pick-up will be Wednesday.
