Selma Dixie Junior Boys advance to next round

PRATTVILLE &045; Prattville jumped out to an early lead in an attempt to force a deciding game three of the District IV Dixie Junior Boys All-Star Tournament.
But Selma had other plans as it beat Prattville 10-7 Tuesday at Bell Park.
Prattville’s Garrison Mathis singled and scored on Casey McCluskie’s sacrifice fly in the top of the second inning.
In the bottom of the second, Selma’s Wes Tipton reached on an error and later scored on a passed ball to even the score at 1-1.
Prattville regained its one-run lead in the third inning. Alex Pattie doubled and scored on an O.J. Howard groundout.
Selma bounced back with four runs of its own in the bottom half of the inning. Devonte Cleveland walked and scored on Austin Anderson’s single. Ethan Fancher hit his second home run of the tournament, allowing Anderson to score.
Eddie Thigpen singled and later scored in an unsuccessful Prattville attempt to throw out Carstella Hayes, who was stealing second.
Selma scored another run in the fourth. Crawford Traylor reached on a bunt single and scored on a single from Dylan Lawrence.
Prattville scored two runs in the top of the fifth inning, but Selma scored four runs in the bottom half.
Seele picked up the win for Selma, and Will Hamm was the losing pitcher for Prattville.
Selma advances to play in the sub-state tournament as a No.1 seed in Eufaula on July 19.
