The activation of Edgewood Elementary&8217;s burglar alarm has led to an arrest of a Selma man.

James Hurry, 24, of 1519 Helen St. was arrested on Highland Avenue around 1 a.m. Monday and accused of the break-in and attempted theft of the school.

Hurry remains under a $30,000 bond at the Dallas County Jail, charged with third-degree burglary.

When Selma police officer James Bevel responded to the call, he spotted Hurry&8217;s tan 2002 Ford Explorer leaving the school. When Bevel attempted to stop the vehicle, the occupants exited the vehicle and ran.

Authorities are unsure of how many occupants were in the vehicle, said Lt. David Evans, a spokesman for the Selma Police Department.

Officers found and arrested Hurry when they searched the area. His vehicle was impounded.

Further investigation revealed burglars had attempted to steal equipment from the computer room.

No other arrests have been made. The incident remains under investigation.
