MONTGOMERY – The UAB football and men’s basketball and golf programs face penalties under the NCAA’s latest Academic Progress Report.
Jacksonville State’s men’s hoops team will lose two scholarships and the football team was penalized for falling short of the NCAA standard for three straight years. The report was released Tuesday for Division I schools based on the last four academic years.
South Alabama will lose one scholarship in men’s basketball for the upcoming season.
Auburn and Alabama both fared well in the report, with no teams receiving penalties.
UAB will be assessed multiple penalties in men’s basketball, football and men’s golf, including scholarship losses and warning letters. San Diego State and San Jose State were the only other schools with more than one team making the list twice.
