Fourth Circuit District Attorney Michael Jackson was elected a member at-large of the Alabama District Attorneys Association for the 2011-12 term.

Jackson, who was selected by the District Attorneys of Alabama during the July 5 elections, said he is excited to have the support of his peers.

“I appreciate all of them for having that confidence in me,” he said. “This will allow our circuit to have a voice on the decisions made by district attorneys across the state.”

The ADAA, through the executive committee, formulates policy and guidelines for the state’s district attorneys to accomplish its mission, which it says is “to provide quality training, programs, services and opportunities essential to the success of prosecution.”

The officers and committee also work with the Alabama legislature to pass legislation that will strengthen the ability of district attorneys and law enforcement to combat crime.

In a statement, the Association said it is confident Jackson will prove to be an asset based on his track record.

“Michael has served on the ADAA executive committee in prior years and has worked tirelessly to promote the interest of prosecutors, victims and the citizens of the state of Alabama.”

The officers and committee members who were elected include Chris McCool, president, Jimmie Harp, vice president, Richard Minor, secretary and treasurer, Tommy Smith, immediate past president.
