WHITE HALL (AP) — The former mayor of White Hall was sentenced to two years in prison and ordered to pay a $25,000 fine after he was found guilty of tax charges.
Federal prosecutors say John Jackson filed false tax returns between 2004 and 2006 that didn’t report all the income he and his wife earned. They say he also didn’t report money he took from the city and money he diverted from nonprofit companies.
Jackson was also sentenced to one year of supervised release and ordered to pay more than $11,000 in restitution.
