Lebarron Mack has announced his candidacy for city council president.

His objectives are to continue working with youth and making Selma a place that young people want to return to; build stronger community relations; and to work to repair Selma&8217;s infrastructure.

Mack, 40, is a 1986 Selma High School graduate and a 1992 graduate of the University of Alabama, where he received a bachelor&8217;s in theatre.

Mack taught debate and the performing arts in the Selma City Schools system for seven years. He works for the Alabama Education Association as UniServ director for District 20, which includes Dallas, Marengo, Sumter, and Wilcox counties.

Mack is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. and is a past master of St. Mark No. 4, Prince Hall Masons. He is a member of Prince Hall Consistory No. 19 of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Freemasonry, Prince Hall and is also a member of Shaaban Temple No. 103 of the Ancient Egyptian Arabic Order Nobles Mystic Shrine of North and South America.

Mack is the son of Willie A. Mack and Leola Dixon. He is unmarried and has no children.

Mack is running against previously announced candidates Gene Hisel and Geraldine Allen.
