Local boxer Anthony &8220;Amp&8221; Webster is on the road to what seems to be a long recovery.

Webster is undergoing therapy in Spain Rehabilitation Center in Birmingham. His condition was not immediately available, but according to a family member, he is getting feeling back in his hands and feet and his family is hoping he will walk again.

The 19-year-old suffered a paralyzing spinal injury in a March 1 crash on Ala.14 E., involving three vehicles.

Webster was a passenger in a Toyota Camry.

According to Alabama State troopers, all three drivers suffered none-life-threatening injuries.

According to Alabama State Trooper reports, a 1994 Chevy van driven by James Tate, 18, was traveling east, behind the Camry, and was attempting to pass.

After the impact, the van then spun out of control and struck a 2001 Nissan Altima traveling behind it, driven by Brandon Caver, 19.

Webster is an amateur heavyweight boxer. He has been under the wing of boxing coach Frank Hardy at the Selma Youth Development Center since he was 7 years old and has won several trophies around the state and

in several other parts of the country. He has also trained with professionals such as Knoxville training and sparring with Alonzo Butler in Knoxville, Tenn.

He has high hopes for his boxing career.
