Today is Super Tuesday. At stake are votes Democratic and Republican candidates seeking their party&8217;s nomination as the candidate to face off in November&8217;s general election.

The polls open at 7 a.m. and close at 7 p.m. After the polls close election inspectors hand-carry the results from the 30 precincts to the Dallas County Courthouse.

There are 29,947 registered voters in Dallas County and about half of them are expected to go to the polls to cast their ballots in the Presidential Preference Primary Election, according to the county&8217;s chief registrar.

Alabama is among 24 other states holding primaries today, including American Somoa and Americans living abroad.

Statewide turnout is expected to be high, but statewide the secretary of state&8217;s office is expecting a turnout of 31 to 33 percent.

By 9 p.m., as state totals come in, candidates will know if their work in Alabama paid off. Obama has opened a campaign headquarters on Broad Street. Clinton&8217;s headquarters for this area has been in Montgomery, and election night watch parties have been scheduled all over the state.

Councilwoman Patsy Moore, who also serves as a poll inspector at the Valley Grande Community Center, wants to remind voters to remember to bring some form of identification.

Moore said it&8217;s common for voter to forget their driver&8217;s license, but should you forget it, a utility bill, bank statement, paycheck or other comparable documents with your name on it can serve as a substitute.
