Reporting about ABI report draws kudos from reader

Dear editor,
I congratulate The Selma Times Journal on its Jan. 31 lead editorial for its advocacy of open records. I wish the people of Alabama would demand more of this type of reporting.
Last year, state Sen. Jeb Little convened a group to study Alabama’s open records laws. I parachuted into their proceedings to help out wherever I could and learned there are some people who take a public position advocating more open government and privately work to keep government records shielded from the prying eyes of the tax-paying public.
What a shame!
I salute the people of The Selma Times-Journal for their efforts and hope that it will yield fruit for the people of Alabama.
