The Judson College soccer team will spend the next week getting involved and giving back to the community.
The Judson College Eagles will have a mission week starting Monday where they will do community service throughout Marion.
“Every day this week from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. we’re going to be doing different activities,” said Emanuel Stephens, head coach of the soccer team.
Stephens said activities the team will take part in include helping kids get ready to go back to school.
“One day we’ll be helping put book bags together for the kids in Perry County,” Stephens said. “We’ll be making the book bags and distributing them out to the kids.”
Stephens said the backpacks will be filled with school supplies children need for the upcoming year and the team will also hand out school uniforms on another day during the week.
The team will also be helping out at an adult nutrition center and will help clean the old National Guard building in Marion.
Stephens said he thinks the various activities will have a big impact on the girls and the community.
“I think it will have an impact on the girls with them giving back to the community,” Stephens said. “Especially with them helping the kids and giving them school supplies and uniforms.
“It’s important for the girls to work with all age groups from adults to little kids as well. I think the community will benefit in a number of ways.”
