Tommie Lee Williams received a total of 30 years Tuesday from Circuit Court Judge Jack Meigs after entering a guilty plea on charges of assault second degree and burglary third degree.

Williams received 15 years for each count.

District Attorney Michael Jackson said he hopes to continue putting criminals behind bars for as long as possible.

“We are going to keep shipping these robbers and violent offenders off to prison for a long time,” Jackson said. “Dallas County is not going to be the wild, wild, west. This defendant thought he was Jessie James.”

The incident occurred Nov. 10, 2010 when Walter Brown said he went to 1318-A L.L. Anderson Ave. and gave Phillips money to go to the store.

Brown said when Phillips came back into the house, Phillips told him “you got to leave here.”

Brown said he didn’t understand what was going on and then Phillips started hitting him in the head with a hard object on the right side of his face.

Brown then said Phillips went in his front pocket and took $40 before Brown could leave the residence.

Brown’s front tooth was knocked out and the right side of his face was badly swollen.
